Transport Tips

Whether you’re flying into Kraków, hopping on a tram, or planning a trip to Auschwitz, here’s everything you need to move around the city stress-free.

From the Airport ✈️

Kraków Airport (Balice) is only 12 km from the city center. You can get there in four ways: train (fastest), bus (cheapest), ridesharing with Bolt/Uber, or a regular taxi. Below you’ll find details and prices for each option.

Train

→ 20 min, ~16 PLN, runs every 30 min.

Bus (208, 209, 300, 902 night)

→ cheapest, but slower.

Taxi / Bolt / Uber

→ ~80–120 PLN depending on time.

Public Transport in Kraków 🚋

Always remember: tickets must be validated inside the tram or bus. Fares start at 4 PLN for 20 minutes, up to 56 PLN for 7 days. Zone I covers almost all tourist attractions, so you usually don’t need a more expensive ticket.

Tickets 🎟️

Tickets in Kraków are time-based, not distance-based. Validate your ticket immediately after boarding – inspectors do random checks.

Most Useful Stops 📍

Old Town: Poczta Główna, Plac Wszystkich Świętych, Teatr Słowackiego.
Kazimierz: Miodowa, Stradom, Plac Wolnica.

Jakdojade App 📲

The Jakdojade app lets you check real-time departures, buy tickets, and plan your route – the most reliable way to get around.

Ride-hailing & Taxis 🚖

💡 Tip: Local taxi companies may be cheaper than Uber or Bolt during busy times. Ask the driver for an approximate fare before the ride, or use the company’s app to see the price.

Bolt

Bolt is usually cheaper than traditional taxis. You order via the app, price is shown upfront, and cars are easy to find in Kraków.

Uber

Uber works the same way as everywhere else. It’s often slightly more expensive than Bolt, but you can link your card and ride hassle-free.

Icar/MegaTaxi/Itaxi

Local Polish taxi companies like iCar, MegaTaxi, or iTaxi operate across Kraków. You can book by phone, app, or just hail one on the street. Prices are usually fixed and reliable.
